Should Employees Play at Work?

The answer is a resounding YES!  Using online games to help employees master critical skills like negotiation can be extremely effective.  That’s what business-focused “serious games” are all about.

You might be wondering how games actually help individuals learn.  A recent study found that using online games in learning can help individuals develop a skill that is essential to our employees’ success – problem solving.   The Business Dictionary defines problem solving as:

The process of working through details of a problem to reach a solution …..and it can be a gauge of an individual’s critical thinking skills.”

Our online game-based courses feature a unique, sophisticated game simulator that guides students through increasingly complex situations to solve a real world business problem.

For example, in our online game-based negotiation course, learners assume the role of Carlo Vecchio, a 15th-century Venetian merchant, who is trying to grow his new trading business.  Each player participates in a competition with his/her colleagues to negotiate through a series of increasingly challenging situations like customer conversations and hiring and managing employees.   Learners receive personalized feedback and our game simulator tracks progress every step of each negotiation, awarding or subtracting points from each learner’s score.

Sound fun?  It is.  And, it is effective.  In an online game like this, your employees will be challenged, supported, and engaged – all while they develop the problem solving skills necessary to excel in their positions and make an impact on your business. .
